Magificent experience for our U10 et U12 de l’Ovalie Nyonnaise!

Tournament International “Basile Moraitis” – La Valette du Var, France

The U12s experienced a challenging but highly rewarding tournament against strong opposition from across the region and abroad.

The morning qualifiers proved difficult, with defeats against Provence Rugby (6-0), Nissa Rugby (4-1), and St Maximin (2-0). Despite the results, the team discovered a much higher level of rugby, with faster play, stronger physicality, aggressive ruck contests, and excellent use of width. Encouragingly, the squad improved game after game, strengthening their defense and showing great character, including a well-worked try against Nissa Rugby. The quality of the opposition was confirmed as Provence Rugby went on to win the tournament, Nissa Rugby won the Plate competition, and St Maximin claimed the Bowl.

In the afternoon Bowl competition, the team showed remarkable progress and resilience. After a thrilling 2-2 draw against Toulon Rugby Formation, only losing out due to earlier results, the players demonstrated greater intensity, stronger defense, and much improved attacking rugby.

The team then produced an excellent 6-1 victory over RC Aubagne, with strong organization, aggressive defending, and flowing passing rugby. Finn, Reuben, Laszlo, and Aloys all crossed the try line in an outstanding team performance.

The final match for 21st place against Italian side Harlequins was a true battle. After leading 2-0, the team was pegged back to 2-2 before responding with determination to secure a hard-fought 3-2 victory. A courageous defensive effort in the closing moments ensured the win and a 21st-place finish overall.

Beyond the results, the tournament was a fantastic learning experience for the entire squad, who showed impressive improvement, determination, and team spirit throughout the day.

Congratulations to all the ERTS players: Emily (injured), Aloys, Andrea, Blake, Chris, Eliott, Finn, Gaspard, Ilan, Laszlo, Marius, Oscar, Reuben, and Samuel.
